Save the Children (UK), Nairobi Facilities Unit is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the above internship position for a period of 3 months. The Facilities Unit provides shared support to the Nairobi based staff for the South Sudan Programme, Somalia Programme and Kenya Programme respectively.
The IT intern will be responsible for :
Service of IT equipment
Assist in IT support
Ensure that SCUK intranet is up to date.
Document SCUK network including port numbers as well as streamline cabling in the Nairobi office
Develop weekly MS office tips to be sent to users.
Maintain IT inventory and track equipment issued to users or taken for repairs.
Person specification
Essential Requirements
Minimum diploma in Information Technology.
A+ certification would be an added advantage.
Excellent communication skills
Desirable Requirements
Good understanding of Windows 2003 server operating system
Great command of desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office applications
Hardware maintenance skills including peripheral equipment e.g Printers, scanners etc.

| ILRI is seeking to recruit a Housing Manager to manage housing function which consists of ILRI houses and hostels, laundry facilities including conference and meeting rooms in a cost effective manner while ensuring the highest quality service and hygiene standards . Specific duties will include: • Manage the housing team effectively, ensuring that the team is well structured and staffed, that the staff have the required skills and that the degree of motivation and performance is high. • Ensure sound management processes are in place and compliance with OHSE standards within the unit. • Review the provision of services, including the conference package regularly to respond to customer needs and requirements • Prepare, control and monitor the income and expense budgets for the unit • Manage the inventory and consumable supplies within the unit. • Coordinate the housing and conferencing facilities maintenance and repairs. • Manage sub-contractor performance. • Regular liaison with customers on their requirements and monitoring the satisfaction level.

Responsibilities
ILRI is seeking to recruit a Technical Assistant to support the Housing Unit in conferencing.
Specific duties will include:
• Setting up of equipments such projector, video, public address, flip charts and music
• In charge of booking and preparation of meeting rooms including sitting arrangement, display of posters for special occasions and photocopying
• Record keeping of promotional items stocks
• Monitoring and reporting to the housing help desk maintenance requirements of all meeting rooms
• Testing conference equipments to ensure they are in good working condition before meetings
• Assist housing in simple electrical maintenance tasks
• Coordination of transport, hotels and restaurants/ dinners for the workshops.
• Coordination with travel agency
• Dissemination of information on regarding weather, and what to expect when coming to Kenya.
