1. Retail Centre Agent

Reporting to the Retail Centre Manager, the Retail Centre Agent will be part of a team responsible for:

Key Responsibilities

Delivery of high quality retail sales customer service in all interactions with customers.

Handling customer queries/requests in the retail centre and educating customers on all Safaricom products and services.

Updating customer records on systems and databases.

Performing quick cash sales and issuing out stock to customers and reconciling stock at the end of the day.


Minimum Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a graduate with an 2nd Upper Class Honors or 3.0 GPA or better.

You will have a minimum of 1 year experience in a retail sales commercial environment .

You will be able to perform accurate cash and stock reconciliations and verify billing records.

You should be capable of cooperating/liaising with both internal & external customers and following laid down instructions while providing quality service. You will have intermediate computer knowledge.

Familiarity with Safaricom products and services will be a definite advantage. 4. MEDAIR is looking for a Capacity Building Coordinator

Responsibilities include:

1. Programme management

Full responsibility for the quality and practice of strengthening technical and management capacities of local Sudanese project staff, local partners, governance structures in Medair’s focus areas and Medair staff involved in Health and Watsan programmes.

Provide advice on programme policy implications and offer corrective measures and actions to Sector Project Managers, Capacity Building Officers and other Medair staff.

Shared responsibility with the Sector managers and Sector coordinators) in ensuring appropriate technical and management training objectives/opportunities are maximised based on available funds, and suitable trainees and training institutions.

Responsible for policy advice on appropriate Capacity Building strategies for Medair South Sudan.

Provide advice and direction on HAP-I and other beneficiary accountability practices into Health and Watsan programmes.

2. Programme coordination

Full responsibility for ensuring effective coordination of all training and capacity building objectives and activities, in consultation with the Sector Managers, Sector Coordinators and Capacity Building Officers.

Ensure implementation of all aspects of community development policy and practice in locations where Medair promotes community participation in Medair Health and Watsan programme activities.

Ensure Medair representation at capacity building forum meetings.

3. Community Development

Responsible for the development, review and application of training materials reflecting community development approaches. Include CHD, VHC and VWC training manuals and other training manuals/modules, ensure relevance.

Review in collaboration with the Health Project Managers and the Medical Coordinator, the appropriateness of training programmes and resources/material for community development and literacy training.

Assist harmonization of training materials and approaches relevant to capacity building project issues.

4. Community Development Policy

Advise on appropriate policies and procedures for programme implementation in the field, to assure sound application of community development approaches in Health and Watsan programmes in South Sudan.

Provide technical professional advice on the process of selection and placement for training of Sudanese project staff for external and internal training based on project proposal log frame objectives and budgets.

Responsible for ensuring adoption by all Medair staff of effective mechanisms for maximizing social/community mobilization for managing primary health care and water and sanitation activities in sites.

5. Budget Management

Remain informed and give corrective measures on expenditure/IR tracking for training and capacity building.

Provide advice to the Medical Sector Coordinator’s and Health Sector Managers on the expenditure trends on the training and capacity building projects/ accounts codes designated for beneficiaries. Advise Programme Coordinator on same.

Sourcing funding from donors for capacity building support independent of Water and Sanitation and Health

6. Staff management

Participate in the recruitment, orientation and professional support of Capacity Builders in Medair South Sudan.

Responsible for advising the Sector Project Managers and Sector Coordinators on suitability/competencies of Capacity Builders and Sudanese project staff.

Contribute significantly in developing and updating HR policy guidelines on salaries and incentives for Sudanese project staff.

MAJOR OBJECTIVES

1. Programme management

Ensure the quality and practice of strengthening technical and management capacities of local Sudanese project staff, local partners and Medair staff in all Health and Watsan programmes.

Instruct and correct all Capacity Builders on policy/training activities.

Advise Sector Managers on preventive and corrective measures where necessary.

Provide feedback on the progress on training and capacity building objectives indicated on internal and external reports.

Provide advice on programme policy implications and offer corrective measures and actions to Sector Managers, Capacity Building Officers and other Medair staff.

Together with the Sector Managers and Sector coordinators ensure appropriate technical and management training objectives/opportunities are maximised based on available funds, and suitable trainees and training institutions.

Provide policy advise on appropriate capacity building (including HAP-I) strategies for Medair south Sudan.

2. Programme coordination

Liase with the Medical Coordinator in the application of sound policies on Primary and Emergency Health Care, Medair internal Health Policies and Guidelines

and with the Ministry of Health for the GOSS on health policy and practices.

 Closely liaise with the Sector Managers in ensuring effective coordination of all training and capacity building objectives and activities.

Ensure implementation of all aspects of community development policy and practice in locations where Medair promotes community participation in Medair Health and Watsan programme activities.

Ensure Medair provides input into the SSU Capacity Building Forum. Aid in the development of state and federal capacity building policies.

3. Community Development

Develop and regularly review training materials reflecting community development approaches; training manuals/modules, ensure relevance.

Review with the Capacity Builders, all community action plans and make corrective measures/actions.

Review in collaboration with the Health Projects Managers and the Medical Coordinator, the appropriateness of training programmes and resources/material for community development and literacy training.

Harmonise training materials and approaches on capacity building issues in Health and Watsan projects.

4. Community Development Policy

Give advice to the Sector Managers and Medair staff on appropriate policies and procedures for programme implementation in the field, to assure sound application of community development approaches in Health and Watsan programmes in South Sudan.

Give technical and management advise to the Sector Managers on achievement of all external and internal training objectives based on proposal logframe objectives and budgets.

Develop and update the application (by all Medair staff) effective mechanisms for maximizing social/community mobilization for Health and Watsan activities in sites.

5. Budget Management

Ensure appropriateness of all expenditures on training and capacity building by the Sector Managers/and Coordinators.

6. Staff management
Orientate and coach Capacity Builders in base locations and during field visits to locations in SSU Sudan.

Assist in recruitment of Capacity Builders

Main Duties

The IRC Southern Sudan Reintegration Program is currently running a vocational training and apprenticeship scheme for approximately 80 trainees. IRC is seeking a consultant to undertake career skills development training to enhance the core trainings. The objective of the training is to increase the employability of the trainees. Training groups will be divided in to approximately 20-25 people, and according to education level.


The training sessions should consist of the following elements:

Writing a CV and application letter

Responding to interview questions (including role play)

Searching for a job and determining the best career

Presentation and professionalism in the workplace


Some trainees do not speak English and the trainings will be carried out largely in Juba Arabic. The preparation of the training must also take into account the different education levels of the trainees: varying approaches and materials will be required according to the education levels of participants.

The consultancy will start with a preparation period, when the consultant will be required to visit the trainees to get a better understanding of students’ levels and abilities and prepare the final curriculum for training.

Each applicant should submit a draft syllabus of proposed training modules and any sample supplemental material.

Position Description

Kenya North Eastern Province APHIA II Project

TITLE: Data Manager

REPORTS TO: M&E Officer

BAND:

LOCATION: Garissa, North Eastern Province, Kenya

BACKGROUND

Although some progress has been made by the Provincial Health Management Team and development partners, especially DANIDA, in health data collection in all four districts in the North Eastern Province (NEP), much still remains to be done in data collection, analysis, and use. At most health facilities, data collections tools (forms) are not readily available where and when they are needed. Storage of data is unsatisfactory resulting in a situation where data and information retrieval is very difficult. The data that is available is not analyzed or used to inform decision making by health managers. In addition the high turnover of staff in hospitals, health centers and dispensaries requires continuous training and support of new health workers.


OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Manager will work closely with provincial and district Ministry of Health (MOH) Records Clerks providing training and necessary support for data collection, analysis, dissemination, and use at all levels of health service delivery. He/she will assist facility based health workers and community-based groups to develop and maintain a system that facilitates use of data and information for their day-to-day functions and to track their own progress, compare their services to others, and better understand the value and meaning of the data they collect.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Train staff in all health facilities to make them aware of the provisions of the Government of Kenya (GOK) National Health Information System, NASCOP and the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) data and information needs and their role in meeting these needs.

  2. Ensure that appropriate data collection tools (e.g. Dispensing Register for Rural Health Facilities and other forms) are available in all departments of hospitals and at health centers and dispensaries.

  3. Develop standard operating procedures and systems for collection, storage, and analysis of data.

  4. Coordinate and provide training for data collection and analysis for Health Workers and Records Officers.

  5. Monitor the quality of data that is being entered into the data collection tools (forms and registers).

  6. Manage collection, compilation, analysis, and presentation of service data from participating health facilities and community groups.

  7. Conduct regular site visits to health facilities and provide support to data collection and management activities.

  8. Assist the Provincial Health Management Team (PHMT) and Project Director in preparing quarterly and annual work plans and reports to MOH and the United Stated Agency of International Development (USAID).

  9. Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. A degree in Statistics/Health Statistics required. Masters degree in Biostatistics preferable.

  2. At least two years experience in monitoring and evaluation of public health programs.

  3. Knowledge of HIV/AIDS monitoring and familiarity with the PEPFAR indicators.

  4. Computer skills in word processing, spread sheets, and database management packages.

  5. Knowledge in management, maintenance, and trouble shooting computer systems including LAN preferred.

  6. Fluency in English. Swahili an added advantage.

  7. Willingness to be based at Garissa (NEP).
