1. Background Information
The intern will be placed at the Project Development and Implementation Unit in Nairobi.
The primary function of the Project Development and Implementation Unit (PDIU) is to enhance the functions of the Mission with Regional Function (MRF) Nairobi through project / programme development and implementation and effective coordination with IOM field missions within the East and Central African Region.
2. Objective of the assignment
Working directly under the guidance and supervision of the Programme Development Officer (PDO), the intern will provide technical assistance and facilitation in the development and design of new projects / programmes to be implemented in Kenya.
The Intern assignments will include:
• Consult all relevant documents on IOM project / programme development and implementation.
• Familiarize him/her self with IOM service areas and read the major guiding documents for each area as well as examples of projects implemented under each area. In particular focus on irregular migration, labor migration, migration management, migration and development, assisted voluntary return etc.
• Under the guidance of the PDO Conduct a desk study including a review of Kenyan government policy papers on topics related to IOM areas of interest; major donors’ country strategy papers for Kenya; UNCT, UNDAF and other multi agency relevant documents and identify possible linkages for IOM.
• Under the guidance of the PDO search for and study thoroughly available funding opportunities for future IOM project development.
• Accompany the PDO in meetings potential donors.
• Assist the PDO in identifying and contacting potential partners among civil society, government of Kenya, and international organizations and accompany the PDO in meeting these potential partners.
• Assist the PDO to identify potential programmes and formulate project proposals in the relevant IOM service areas by conducting background research and preparing initial drafts following instructions from the PDO and according to required formats.
• As needed draft Internal and external reports and assist the PDIU (unit) is responding to requests for information from HQ, other missions or others.

General Functions:

1. Receives refugees and migrants during reception hours, performs booking interviews as necessary.
2. Makes airline bookings for migrants in accordance with the procedures.
3. Verifies migrant documents/identities as necessary.
4. Serves as a focal point for Canadian Resettlement Program.

10. Follows-up for timely assignment of medical escorts to proflights, makes escort bookings and communicates the details to those concerned in accordance with the program requirements.
11. Ensures timely proflight updates in MiMOSA.
12. Creates entries in GATOR and follow up ticket refunds in GATOR and with airlines as necessary.
13. Generates and timely distributes Advance Booking Notifications, Transit Visa Waiver Requests, Additions and Deletions to the proflight.
14. Ensures timely preparation and signature of Transportation Warrants as applicable.
15. Keeps all proflight related correspondence with airlines receiving missions and other related parties.
16. Keeps updated proflight file, ensuring that all necessary documents are included in the file. Ensure timely closure of files and handover to airlines accounts team.

General Functions:
Under the overall and technical supervision of the Regional Medical Officer for Africa and Middle East
and under the direct supervision of the Senior Health & HIV Assistant, the incumbent will assist in
developing, implementing, supervising, and managing the Avian and Human Influenza Project for
Migrants (AHIPM). In particular his/her responsibilities will be as below:
1. Drafts and develops a business analysis of IOM-MRF Nairobi core programmes
and migrants beneficiaries, in order to describe the Organization’s comparative
advantages in developing AHIPM pandemic contingency plans and response
under AHI pandemic.
2. Assist in drafting and development of the IOM’s Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
review and finalization, to include essential staff policy, standard operating
procedures (SOPs) and guidelines, scaling up of preparedness and response tools,
assets and staff skills.
3. Coordinates health promotion and education activities in Nairobi including
setting up training workshops for IOM and non-IOM staff, as well as community
health educators.
4. Maintains liaison with partners including the community level, other IOM
missions, and MRF colleagues to facilitate a coordinated approach to programme
implementation, as per the AHIPM and national programme objectives relevant
to the target population.
5. Monitors project activities, identifying potential and existing obstacles to project

Terms of Reference
Functional Title: Counter Trafficking in Kenya - Intern

1. Background Information
The intern will be placed at the Project Development and Implementation Unit in Nairobi, to assist in the implementation of counter human trafficking projects in Kenya. These project focus on preventing human trafficking through awareness raising campaigns and capacity building for government and other project partners, protection of trafficked persons through the provision of direct assistance and training for health care and service providers, and prosecution of trafficking offenses through technical assistance in the drafting of national counter trafficking legislation.
2. Objective of the assignment
Working directly under the guidance and supervision of the Counter Trafficking Programme Officer, the intern will provide assistance in the implementation of the counter trafficking projects entitled “Countering Human Trafficking in Kenya through Capacity Building, Awareness Raising, and Assistance to Victims and Countering Human Trafficking in Kenya” and “Capacity Building and Sensitization of Health Care Providers and Community Leaders and Community Stakeholders.”

The Intern’s assignments will include:
1. Assist in the development of training materials for a range of project stakeholders and beneficiaries.
2. Assist in logistical arrangements for project meetings, trainings, workshops, and duty travel.
3. Draft reports on project activities, such as meeting notes, and periodic reports for submission to IOM counterparts and donors.

HYGIENE PROMOTER
(Based in Wajir)

Join Our Public Health Promotion Team in Wajir

Oxfam’s current work in Wajir has been aimed at Public Health improvements within the District. In recognition of the low awareness and practice of good hygiene habits within the District and the link between poor hygiene and malnutrition, Oxfam is planning to raise the priority of its hygiene promotion work through the use of schools and adult education classes as community entry points. This involves recruiting its own team to increase internal capacity and improve programme quality, which also enables Oxfam to take more of an active lead role in advocating the importance of public health issues within the district.

The role of the Hygiene Promoter will be to support the Public Health Promoter in implementing this programme and in carrying out assessment of the public health risks and needs within the affected population and making recommendations for actions. The jobholder will play a key role on mobilising, sensitising and training targeted individuals within these institutions as well as in the wider target communities, to raise awareness of the importance of good hygiene and the links with improved health. The role also entails providing regular reports and where delegated, represent OGB in District level co-ordination meetings with the government and other key players.

Skills and Competencies Required For this Role
  • Minimum Diploma level qualification in relevant subject area. E.g. Public health/Environmental Health.
  • Relevant work experience and understanding of community mobilization and development in relation to watsan activities and education

SENIOR MANAGER, COMMUNICATIONS & POLICY ENGAGEMENT

Overall Responsibilities
  • The County Project Officer (CPO) provides overall oversight and support for programme implementation, coordination, monitoring and reporting at county level, often covering more than one county.

Responsibilities:
